Gregory J. Hayes is a member of the board of directors for Phillips 66. He is chair of the nominating and governance committee and serves on the human resources and compensation, public policy and sustainability and executive committees.

Hayes served as the Executive Chairman of RTX Corporation (formerly Raytheon Technologies Corporation) (RTX) from May of 2024 through April of 2025. In his previous role as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of RTX, Hayes was responsible for leading the renowned aerospace and defense company of 185,000 employees and $69 billion in annual revenue. Prior to being elected Chairman of the board in 2021, Hayes served as President, Chief Executive Officer of RTX and had a nearly 21-year career at United Technologies Corporation (UTC), holding several senior leadership roles across finance, corporate strategy and business development, culminating with his appointment as Chief Executive Officer in 2014 and Chairman in 2016. As CEO, Hayes led the reshaping of UTC from industrial conglomerate to focused aerospace company. Beginning with the divestiture of Sikorsky Aircraft in 2015 and the acquisition of Rockwell Collins in 2018, Hayes continued to focus the business with the spinoffs of Otis Elevator Company and Carrier Corporation in 2020. Hayes then led the 2020 merger of UTC’s remaining aerospace businesses, Pratt & Whitney and Collins Aerospace, with Raytheon Company, to form what is today RTX. Hayes previously served on the board of Nucor Corporation, the largest steel producer in the U.S.

Hayes holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Purdue University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
