Hayes is the chairman and chief executive officer of RTX, responsible for leading an aerospace and defense company of 180,000 employees and $67 billion in annual sales. Elected chairman of the board in 2021, Hayes had a nearly 21-year career at United Technologies Corporation (“UTC”), holding several senior leadership roles across finance, corporate strategy and business development, culminating with his appointment to chief executive officer in 2014 and chairman in 2016. Hayes then led the 2020 merger of UTC’s remaining aerospace businesses, Pratt & Whitney and Collins Aerospace, with Raytheon Company, to form what is today RTX. Hayes also served as UTC’s chief financial officer from 2008 to 2014. Hayes previously served on the board of Nucor Corporation from 2014 to 2018.
